Auditions for the Applefest production of The Producers will be held Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30 at 6:00 in the little theater at the Barrow.
Auditioners will be asked to sing a little something, read a little something, and dance a little something.
Additional information about the roles can be found here. This is a great show for folks who want to dip a toe in the theater world, or return to it after an absence, or can make a limited commitment to rehearsing.
The show is a PG-13 show with adult themes and situations. There are no children's roles.
Hope to see you then!

The Producers: The Roles
First, an important note about this show. While there is a core group of major characters, this is also one of those shows that has a huge and varied supporting cast. There are parts for people who can only sing or only dance or only act or only stay upright and wear clothes. There are parts for people who don't want to tie up all that much time in rehearsal, and there are parts for people who don't want to do anything in their lives except rehearse.
If you (or someone you know) have been thinking of taking the theater plunge, or returning to the theater after months (or years) off, this is the show for you. Come be part of this Applefest treat. Auditions will be at the end of the month (details to come).
Max: He was once a player on Broadway; now he's a famous failure, burned out and washed up and completely unscrupulous.
Leo: High strung nobody, with the soul of a great song and dance man locked inside.
Ulla: A hot Swedish babe who is perhaps not quite as dumb as she first appears to be.
Franz: The author of "Springtime for Hitler," still devoted to his Beloved Fuhrer.
Roger DeBris: The dumbest, worst director in theater. Motto: "Keep it gay!" And at the last minute, he must step in to play Hitler on stage.
Carmen Ghia: Roger's right hand man. A bit severe.
After these six major roles, we have a vast and colorful cast. Many of these parts can be doubled-- or not.
Usherettes: Singing dancing pair at the theater (2 scenes)
Workman: Just talks a little (2 scenes)
Assorted theater-goers and street people at theater. Singing.
Hold Me Touch Me: A randy little old lady. (3 scenes)
The Little Old Lady Corps: 2 scenes, 1.5 songs, and a "dance" number with walkers.
Marks: Leo's boss at the accounting firm. Mean. One scene, no songs.
Kevin, Bryan, Scott, Shirley: Roger's team. Not quite the Village People, but close.
Jack Lapidus: Auditioner. One scene, half a song
Donald: Another auditioner. One scene, half a song
Jason: Another auditioner: One scene, half a song.
Some police: Outrageous Irish accent. One scene, no singing.
Guard: Short scene, no singing.
Judge: One scene. No singing.
Jury Foreman: One scene. No singing.
And there are a couple of large chorus numbers, with singing and dancing.
The movie Lane-Broderick movie version is pretty faithful to this script. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me at pagreene at outlook dot com.
